Formula 1 Barcelona Grand Prix Event Location
The 2013 Formula 1 Barcelona Grand Prix will take place on the weekend of the 11th and 12th of March at the Catalunya Circuit, approx. 20 kilometers outside of Barcelona in the town, Montmelo. For those staying in Barcelona, getting to and from the event is easy. Just catch a train from the Clot, Passeig de Gracia or Barcelona Sants Renfe train stations. Due to the large volume of passengers throughout the Barcelona Grand Prix weekend, the train company has added additional trains to the schedule. Still, I would expect the trains to be pretty full.
To get to Formula 1 Barcelona Grand Prix event location you should catch the the Renfe train – Cercanias R2 (green). The first train in the morning is at 05:27 am and the last train coming back to Barcelona from Montmelo is at around 23:00 (11:00 pm). The trains follow a regular schedule and run approx. every 30 minutes.
The trip takes a little over 20 minutes to get to Montmelo from Barcelona. Once in Montmelo it is a bit of a trek to get to the Catalunya Circuit, Barcelona’s Grand Prix race track. There are regular shuttle busses (for ticket-holders only) or you can walk. The walk takes around 30 minutes and is along large, high-traffic roads.
Tips for 2013 Formula 1 Barcelona Grand Prix Visitors
There are lots of places around the Catalunya Circuit where you can buy food and drink of all types and prices. However, food and drink can be expensive. I would recommend bringing along your own food and drink if at all possible. And, don’t forget the water. It can also get rather hot and sunny. So, it is always a good idea to bring sunscreen, wear a hat and, for those with tickets for the grass area, bring an umbrella. One last essential item that drastically improves the whole Formula 1 Barcelona Grand Prix experience is earplugs, earmuffs or large sound-blocking headphones. The race can get pretty loud.
