Sant Jordi Hostels Went Big at the 2013 HOSCARS
The votes are in, the winners were decided and the awards were handed out. Sant Jordi Hostels took home 3 of the prestigious HOSCAR Awards at the 2013 HOSCARS in Dublin last Thursday.
Just as Hollywood has its thing for the movie stars, Dublin has its thing for us hostel workers. Every award handed out is a recognition of the hard work and dedication of every hostel employee, from owner to cleaning staff. As those of us who work in the hostel industry know, reviews and ratings are a reflection of our personal triumphs and defeats. We read every customer comment and take note of each suggestion, opinion, and critique. We really care. And, when we receive an award like a HOSCAR award it is a particularly special moment.
The hostel industry is a very personal business – we actually get to know our guests and, if we are lucky, by the end of their stay we have a new friend. Our success depends on so many different factors and our customers often times expect something special, something more than just a comfortable place to sleep. Staying in a hostel is an experience, a journey in itself and can often be life-changing. So much of the time it is the experience that makes a hostel great, not the bed, the kitchen or the free internet – it is the friends that we make, the moments that we share and the things that we learn about ourselves and about one another.
We at Sant Jordi Hostels would like to acknowledge not only our dedicated staff but also our lovely guests – friends and family – that have made our hostels such a success. If it weren’t for the good times, positive attitudes, interesting conversations and open-mindedness none of this would be possible.
Sant Jordi Hostels Barcelona were awarded:
- 2nd Place, Best Hostel Chain 2013 – Sant Jordi Hostels
- 10th Place, Best Medium Hostel in the World – Sant Jordi Hostel Alberg
- 2nd Place, New to Hostelworld in 2013 – Sant Jordi Hostel Gracia
Thank you to everyone who has shared in the Experience that is Sant Jordi Hostels Barcelona.
