Sant Jordi Hostels’ Picks for Seafood in Barcelona
Calamari, Shrimp, Crawfish, Oysters…if that makes your mouth water, then you’re in luck. Barcelona has one of the biggest varieties of seafood restaurants in Spain. Although most marisquerias in Barcelona are quite expensive, we picked out a couple of restaurants that are worth your buck.
The MariscCo – Located just off Las Rambla in Plaça Reial, MariscCo is definitely worth a try. They offer fresh seafood brought in straight from the market. You can chose what you want and they cook it right there for you.
La Paradeta – A similar restaurant that is very popular with the locals is La paradeta. It feels like walking up to a seafood stand at the local market. The only difference is that you get to try anything you would like. La paradeta has a couple locations in town; the most centric is in the Born neighborhood. There is also one located near two of our Barcelona hostel locations: Sant Jordi Hostel Sagrada Familia and Sant Jordi Apt. Sagrada Familia.
La Barca del Salamanca – Speaking of seafood, how could we forget about one of the most famous Spanish dishes: Paella. For one of the best and most economical paellas, we recommend heading out to La Barca del Salamanca in Port Olimpic. At only 13 euros per person with complimentary pan con tomate and aperativo, it is the perfect ending to a long day of sightseeing! Just be aware that if you have them peel the seafood for you it costs an extra 4 euros.
If you are staying at one of our hostels in Barcelona just ask the receptionist for directions. They will happily provide detailed directions.
