Wonderland Lisboa
Inspired by London’s Winter Wonderland, Lisbon will certainly not let you down. Located in Lisbon’s famous Eduardo VII Park in Marques de Pombal, here you will find the largest Christmas event spreading magic from all of December through to January 1 st. Not only will you find, family activities, traditional food and gifts but also a massive ferris wheel and skating rink but the best part of it all is entry to this Wonderland is absolutely free.

If you enjoy strolling through markets, Lisbon’s Campo Pequeno Christmas Market is one to add to your list. With more than 140 exhibitors offering unique items that are exclusively inspired by Portuguese traditional arts and crafts, you will not be disappointed. You in turn are also supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in the country which helps to boost the Portuguese economy. Located just 20 minutes from our hostel via the city’s Metro.

Go Christmas shopping at A Vida Portuguesa store
A Vida Portuguesa is more than just a store where you can find traditional Portuguese girts and products. Dubbed the “soul of the country” here you will enjoy a very vintage atmosphere while browsing through ceramics, Portuguese jewelry, toiletries, embroidery, and their famous canned sardines. A Vida Portuguesa is a must-see unique experience, especially during the Christmas period, and not one to be missed.

Check out the tallest Christmas tree in Europe at Praca do Comercio
Crowned Europe’s tallest Christmas tree this 75-meter pine will leave you speechless and quite possibly with some neck ache. This impressive tree is mounted at Lisbon’s Praca do Comercio from the middle of November to early January. Conveniently located just 15 minutes via metro from Sant Jordi Hostels Lisbon, it would be criminal not to grab yourself a vinho quente (a traditional Portuguese mulled wine) and head to this Christmas wonder.

Every year on the 20th of November Lisbon’s Mayor turns on more than two million bulbs of low consumption light throughout the city, turning Lisbon is a sparkling Christmas wonderland. Here we list some of our favourite streets…
- Walk down the Avenida da Liberdade and enjoy its wide sidewalks and beautiful lit-up gardens.
- Head to the Rua Aurea where you will find one of the most beautiful buildings in Lisbon surrounded by small white lights.
- Wonder through Rua Augusta for some seasonal flavor.
- Rua Victoria adorns large red balls that shine bright within a fleet of white threads.
- In Alvalade, the Avenida Igreja is filled with lights, as are many
