La Mercé is the Barcelona’s biggest annual festival. This is the celebration of the Patron Saint of Barcelona, the Virgin Mary, who as Barcelona’s Saint is titled “María de las Mercedes”, meaning “Mary of Mercies.”
La Mercé 2011 will take place from Thursday 22rd September until Sunday 25th September.This festival will have something for all barcelona backpackers….music, street performances, drama in thousands of venues across the city.
