Our hostel in Barcelona recommends “Sala Montjuic”. This open air cinema festival is one of the defining events of the Barcelona summer. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday some of the greatest international and Spanish films of all time, from the classics to popular new releases, are shown on a giant screen in the grounds of Montjuïc castle. Films are always in version original language, with subtitles in Spanish. Make an evening of it and come prepared with a blanket to sit on and a picnic, the earlier you arrive the closer to the front you’ll get. Deckchairs can also be rented for 3€. Another good reason to arrive early is that every evening starts with a concert at 9pm. A short film is screened at 10pm, and the feature film starts at 10.20pm
