SAFETY FOR SOLO FEMALE TRAVELERS
Find out how Sant Jordi will ensure your safety as a solo female traveler!
Solo travel. There really is nothing like it. Meeting new people from around the world, setting your own itinerary with no one to stop you from doing what you want to do, and maybe even having some profound self-discovery along the way. It’s an experience everyone should have at least once! But we know that one of the questions at the forefront of your mind, especially if you’re a female traveler, is: will I be safe on my amazing journey? We want to make sure your trip is as stress-free as possible, so that’s why we compiled this list of all the ways we ensure guest safety at Sant Jordi.
1. Location, Location, Location
Our three Barcelona hostels and our Lisbon hostel are in amazing locations in safe parts of town. You can wander through their charming neighborhoods and find hidden gems, check out all their nearby tourist attractions, and come back at any hour, all without worrying about your safety! Just remember to follow basic tips to prevent pickpocketing–don’t carry valuables in back pockets, don’t leave your phone out on the table at restaurants, be on the lookout for scammers, etc.–and you’ll be all set!
2. Female-Only Dorms
All of our hostels have economical female-only dorms. You’ll be able to meet other female travelers from around the world, gaining new friends to chat about your travel experiences with, see sites with, and have fun at night with. And you’ll be able to sleep more securely too, all without breaking the bank!
3. Keycards
At check-in, you’ll receive a keycard that you’ll use to access your room, and no one without a keycard for your room can get into it. You can rest well knowing that no one will enter your dorm except for the other people who have booked a bed there!
4. Lockers
Each guest has a designated personal locker space in their hostel room. Go wander the city and sleep at night with the assurance that your stuff will be in your locker as long as you leave it there. The best part is that, in most cases, using the lockers is entirely free! In our Barcelona locations, the lockers work with magnetic keycards that will be given to you at check-in, and in our Lisbon hostel, our lockers work with a padlock; you can bring your own or borrow one from reception for a deposit of 5€ that will be returned to you when you check out.
5. Our Amazing Staff!
All of our hostels have 24 hour reception, as well as super friendly, kind, enthusiastic, and experienced staff members. If at any point during your stay you feel unsafe or require assistance of any kind, you can just talk to a staff member, and they’ll help you with whatever you need. It’s a massive relief when traveling to know that there will be someone on your side if you need it!
