Here are some of the best places to watch the sunset in Barcelona
Barcelona is a chronically sleep-deprived city with late nights and slow mornings. You might miss sunrises but you´re sure to catch a sunset or two during your time in this magically city. With the perfect view, you can witness the sun bathe the city in gold and paint the sky with vibrant sunsets that´ll leave you entranced.
Plaça d´Europa in Montjuïc
Montjuïc park is filled with wonders such as the castle, botanical gardens, museums, and Olympic sports stadiums. Exploring the park you will find a large portion of the area dedicated to the Olympic facilities such as the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys. All facilities are still in use but the Anella Olímpica is quiet and peaceful most nights with only locals out for walks with their dogs and children playing football. Grab a friend, pick a spot, and listen to the fountains play a peaceful song for sunset.
PROTIP: Entrance into the Anella Olímpica is free so disregard the intimidating gates and empty box office windows and make your way into the Anella at no cost.

Tope Restaurant - The Hoxton
Barcelona is full of rooftop bars but few provide a clear view of the sun falling behind the mountains. The rooftop bar and restaurant Tope at The Hoxton in Poblenou provides a mesmerizing view of La Sagrada Familia and the mountains beyond for an unforgettable sunset. Once inside the main entrance, take a right followed by a left before reaching the concierge to find the elevators. Press the ¨R¨ button and take the elevator up to the top floor where a host will be waiting to assist you.
PROTIP: The restaurant takes walk-ins but if you book a table on their website you´ll be sat on the west end of the terrace where the sunset provides a perfect backdrop while you sip on a crisp glass of cava. The other side of the terrace has a pool and bar but the view of La Sagrada Familia and the mountains are obstructed by the Coworking LOOM building.

Nativity Tower of La Sagrada Familia
The incomplete, yet illustrious Sagrada Familia has two towers open for visiting, the Nativity and Passion towers each a part of their own respective façade. The Passion tower faces East while the Nativity tower faces West, the best direction for sunset. At a soaring 98.4 meters (322.8 feet) you can watch the sun fall behind Tibidabo.
PROTIP: You can´t visit either tower without visiting La Sagrada Familia so plan your visit accordingly. Tickets are sold online and in person for a timed entry into both the cathedral and one tower of your choice so give yourself a recommended 2 hours to explore the cathedral before taking the elevator to the Nativity tower for sunset. Crowds can vary based on the time of year.

Bunkers del Caramel
Atop the Turo de la Rovira sits the abandoned remains of an anti-aircraft battery built during the Spanish Civil War. Years later the place turned into shanty towns until 1990 when the last shanty was demolished in preparation for the 1992 Olympics held in Barcelona. Today the Bunkers are a well-known local hangout. It´s open 24 hours and free to the public with a panoramic birds eye view of Barcelona at 262 meters (859.6 feet). At dusk locals and tourists gather among the Bunkers to listen to music, share food and drinks, play cards games, and watch in wonder as the sunsets paints the city of Barcelona golden.
PROTIP: Prepare for a hike and a picnic. Some paths up the mountain have staircases while others are dusty trails covered in debris. Sturdy shoes, a blanket, and your favorite drink to unwind are highly recommended.

Plaça Tibidabo
As the highest peak in the Collserola mountain´s, mount Tibidabo is considered the Top of Barcelona. It provides spectacular 360 views over the sea, city, and inland. Most go for the amusement park or to see the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, but overlook the prime sunset spot. Once exiting the funicular to reach the top of Tibidabo, the colossal cathedral is hard to miss. Staircases on both sides will lead up to Plaça Tibidabo, but the top of the left staircase will inevitably fill up with spectators ready to watch the suns descent.
PROTIP: To reach the top of Tibidabo you can hike, drive, or take the funicular. The funicular by itself costs 12€ but I recommend getting an amusement park ticket for 35€ and spend the evening exploring, it includes the funicular and unlimited rides. The funicular makes its last trip to the mountain at 19:00 so make sure to get there before it closes.

Plaça del Tibidabo, 3, 4, 08035 Barcelona
